Rooibos is produced in many different regions within the fynbos biome. Each region has a unique micro climate, soil type and altitude and these factors combined has a direct influence on the overall quality and character of Rooibos produced.   

Maskam Region

Maskam-Redbush has a long standing relationship with the Maskam rooibos region. In 1997 our processing plant was established in Vanrhynsdorp, the main village  within the region. Since then we have relocated all facilities to Snorkfontein,  our premium rooibos estate on Gifberg, Maskam region.

Rooibos from the Maskam region has been awarded the 1st prize as best rooibos in South Africa over a number of years.   

Snorkfontein 

Snorkfontein estate is situated on Gifberg and has won the award for best Rooibos in South Africa more than once. As part of the Maskam mountain range, plantations vary from 600- 800m above sea level. 

Taaibosdam and Langdam

From 2011 the farms Taaibosdam and Langdam will form part of our production portfolio and will increase our in house production capacity to more than 400Mt of Rooibos per season. Both these estates are based on Gifberg and plantations vary from 600- 700m above sea level. 

Tanqua

Tanqua estate lies on top of the beautiful Tra-Tra mountain range approximately 250km north of Cape Town. At an altitude ranging from 800 to 1100 meters, it is one the highest Rooibos production areas in South Africa. Rooibos grown on Tra Tra mountain range was awarded the best Rooibos in South Africa for 2010.
